What are the do’s and dont’s of the texting world? When is it appropriate, when should we refrain? What are the rules??!
Here’s some quick and easy guidelines to follow, so see how you score against these suggestions!!
1) Use correct grammar where possible. If you are typing like this “U guyz r 2 kewl”, you are either a 13 year old, or trying to send messages while driving. Both are unforgivable, regardless of age, the latter less so if your phone is pink and covered in rhinestone unicorns
2) If you really want to show someone you care, give them an actual phone call. Even if they don’t pick up, leaving them a short message that they can pick up later is a great way to put a smile on someone’s face!
3) Emoticons. This is an area that’s more for debate, but my women will say that guys shouldn’t be typing messages full of stuck out tongues, crude winkies, and other faces. It comes across as juvenile, unless it follows a flirty text or an obviously childish joke.
4) The best thing about a text is that they recipient can read it and reply to it, at their leisure. Unless its blatantly a time urgent request, don’t keep sending messages when you get no response. Just sit back.. and relax!
